Trelleborg Offers Recourses to Help Customers Select Fenders

July 23, 2013

Trelleborg released a whitepaper, webinar, short film and specification tool that highlight and explain the importance of understanding rubber compound composition when selecting marine fender systems.

The resources discuss the properties of superior rubber compounds and the use of rubber compound composition to optimize fender performance. They also detail a new test method available to help specifies determine the formulation of the fenders they procure.

Richard Hepworth, President of Trelleborg Marine Systems, said, “In recent years, there has been a significant evolution in rubber manufacturing industries. We’ve seen the emergence of contract mixers, locations such as China and India becoming mainstream hubs for rubber compounding, and the availability of a wider range of ingredients for rubber compounding.

“Our new resources explore the impact of rubber compound composition on Velocity Factor (VF) and Temperature Facture (TF), which were introduced by PIANC to accurately ascertain, at the testing stage, how fenders will perform in the field, under varying compression times and temperatures.”
