Simek Get Order for Versatile Subsea Work Vessel
Norway's Stavanger-based Møkster shipping has ordered a new subsea ship from Simek’s Flekkefjord yard in western Norway to the value of approx US$ 55.5-million
The contract is for a ship specially designed to carry out ROV, survey, diving and light construction offshore work, also able to perform work on the construction of wind farms.
Simek is due to complete the new vessel by May 2014.
Main particulars of the new vessel:

• · Width: 18.00 m
• · Accommodation for a total of 90 persons, SPS code and lifeboats.
• · Effective logistics and facilities for management of subsea operations including data processing rooms and conference rooms.
• · DP II with diesel electric propulsion system.
• · A Helicopter Deck
• · 60T active heave compensated crane (2000m), 10T assist winches (2000m) and 10T crane dive to 100m.
• · Large indoor hangar with space for two ROV / diving systems that can be placed on each side.
• · Tires in two heights (shelter and main deck) with a total of 1175m 2 including the hangar deck for good and efficient tire capacity.
• · Specially designed to work close to land.
• · Greater focus on the environment for personnel with four engines located aft of the ship to reduce noise in the cockpit.
• · Very good maneuverability with two azimuth thrusters and a tunnel in the bow section.
Møkster Shipping currently has a fleet of 23 vessels with 550 employees at sea and on shore.
