Stimulus Floods German Waterways

According to a March 23 report from Bloomberg, German Transport Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee laid the foundation stone for Europe’s longest ship lift today, the first step on a program of economic stimulus spending that makes inland waterways the surprise winner. More than $2.5b will flow into German waterway projects this year and next, double the amount in the previous two years.
