Wells Joins OMSA as VP

The Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Richard Wells as Vice President.  Mr. Wells brings to OMSA a wealth of experience in maritime safety, mariner licensing and training and regulatory compliance.  Most recently, Wells served as supervisor of the U.S. Coast Guard’s in   He was responsible for rebuilding the center after it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and then ensuring a smooth transition when the Coast Guard’s licensing function was reorganized.  Prior to that, he was a senior instructor at the Sea School in Mobile, AL, where he was instrumental in helping mariners meet new Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) training requirements.   Before that, he had a distinguished career as an active duty officer in the Coast Guard, where he developed considerable expertise in inspections and investigations.
