August 20, 2003
Ret. Gen. Boyd "Butch" E. King, CEO, VT Halter Marine
will deliver a keynote address at the International WorkBoat Show. Mr.
King will speak at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Wednesday,
Dec. 3, at 12:30 p.m. Based out of Gulfport, Mississippi, VT Halter
Marine is a leader in the design and construction of small- to
medium-sized ships in the United States as well international ocean
going vessels.
A retired Brigadier General who served in the U.S. Army for over 35
years, Mr. King was recently appointed CEO of VT Halter Marine in
January 2003. Mr. King's leadership abilities are well illustrated in
VT Halter Marine's recent ISO 9001 certification, which was completed
within a very short period of time. In his address, King will discuss
the current health of VT Halter Marine's U.S. and international
shipbuilding, current projects on ocean going and defense vessels, new
technology and his vision for the future.
"As the head of one of the largest second-tier shipbuilders on the Gulf
Coast, we anticipate that Mr. King will provide some insight into what's
been happening in the shipbuilding market and what's in store for the
industry in 2004" said David Krapf, editor of WorkBoat magazine.
In addition to the keynotes, a full conference program will take place
throughout the show, featuring sessions on gear and new technology,
regulations, finance, and marine management issues.
