Odfjell Board Announces New CEO’s Start Date
Kristian Verner Mørch will take up his new position as president and CEO of Odfjell SE from August 1, 2015, the company’s board of directors announced. His appointment was announced in May 2015. Ferus Smit to Launch Nordan Star
Ferus Smit informs it will launch Nb. 418 Nordana Star for Symphony Shipping on Friday, July 3, at its shipyard in Leer, Germany. Nordana Star is the second vessel in a series of six to be delivered to Symphony Shipping. BHC Fast Ferry Returns After Engine Refit
Boston Harbor Cruises’ (BHC) Provincetown fast ferry, Salacia, has returned to service following an almost $3 million engine refit which saw the vessel in dry dock from January through May 2015. BHC commissioned the installation of four MTU 12V4000M64 engines from Stewart & Stevenson Power Products, LLC. The engines were manufactured by Rolls Royce Power Systems subsidiary MTU, and assembled in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

Nor-Shipping Run Benefits Mission to Seafarers
A 5-kilometer fun run to benefit The Mission to Seafarers was held at Norway’s Nor-Shipping conference on June 1. Representing Maritime Reporter & Engineering News at the charity race was Greg Trauthwein, Associate Publisher and Editor, and Dawn Trauthwein, Advertising Sales Manager. Starting in Oslo’s city center, the race course took runners along the Oslofjord, finishing at the Norwegian Maritime Museum, the site of a post-race reception.

Maersk Orders 11 Triple-E Containerships
Maersk Line announced it has today ordered 11 new ultra-large second generation Triple-E containerships from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). Crowley’s 2nd LNG ConRo Ship Ahead of Schedule
Shipbuilder VT Halter Marine, Inc. announced construction has started early for the second liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered ConRo ship, Taíno, for Crowley Holdings, Inc. Taíno’s steel cutting ceremony was held May 27 at VT Halter’s Pascagoula, MIss. facility, following the start of construction for sister ship, El Coquí, in October 2014. Both ships are being built for Crowley Maritime Corporation, with deliveries scheduled for mid and late 2017.

Marsh to Take Over as Lloyd’s Register CEO
Alastair Marsh, current CFO at the Lloyd’s Register Group Ltd. (LR), has been appointed as the successor to CEO Richard Sadler who has decided to step down at the end of 2015. Sadler will pass the CEO role to Marsh on October 1, 2015 and commence a formal handover period until the end of December 2015. Simon Nice, currently Group FP&A Director, will take up the role of Interim Group Financial Director during the transition.

Thomas P. Ostebo will join Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) as the organization’s new president and chief executive officer, effective July 6, 2015. Viking Star Towed into London
Kotug Rotortugs RT Ambition and RT Evolution were charged with a special task this morning as they towed new cruise ship Viking Star on her first call to the Port of London. Meyer Turku Delivers First Ship Under New Owners
Meyer Turku handed over Mein Schiff 4 to TUI Cruises on Friday May 8, 2015, marking the first delivery from Turku Shipyard under Meyers’ ownership. The Meyer family, operators of the shipbuilding company Meyer Werft in Germany, became the 100 percent owner of Meyer Turku Oy just two days earlier on May 6. Mein Schiff 4 will be named in Kiel on June 5, before sailing on her maiden voyage to the Baltic States on June 6, 2015.

Bergen Group Cancels Rig Facilities Sale
The Bergen Group has decided to terminate a sales agreement that would see Semco Maritime acquire its rig service yard facilities at Hanøytangen. The real estate and the rig service activity at Hanøytangen will continue to be under the Bergen Group's ownership. According to Semco Maritime, the transaction, initially announced on April 13, 2015, was subject to final closing no later than April 30, but ran into “unforeseen issues” which caused the Bergen Group to cancel the deal.

Savannah, Ga. Opposes Offshore Drilling
