Hamburg Süd to Acquire CCNI Liner Service
Compañía Chilena de Navegación Interoceánica S.A. (CCNI) with headquarters in Valparaiso, Chile, and Hamburg Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft KG (HSDG) with headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, announce that they have signed a preliminary agreement whereby HSDG will acquire the container liner activities of CCNI including the related general agency functions subject to due diligence, execution of a sale and purchase agreement and approval by the competent authorities.

Concordia Tow Update: Smooth Sailing
The Costa Concordia wreck removal team reported this morning at 10:30 a.m. that after 22 hours of navigation, the convoy was over 50 miles off Giglio Island with about 140 miles from Genoa Prà-Voltri. Bollinger to Build 6 More FRCs for the USCG
Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., Lockport, Louisiana, announced the award of six additional USCG Sentinel Class Fast Response Cutters (FRCs). The U. S. USCG Galveston Unit Change of Command
A change-of-command ceremony will be held Thursday morning, July 24, to see a Coast Guard lieutenant commander and graduate of Houston's Alief Hastings High School, Lt. Cmdr. Steve Morris, take command of Maritime Safety and Security Team (MSST) Galveston, assuming the responsibilities of commanding officer from Lt. Cmdr. Chad Holm. Panama Canal to Celebrate 100 Years
To commemorate its centennial, the Panama Canal will host a series of events August 14-15 in Panama City to highlight the impact of the waterway during the past century. On August 14 at 8 a.m., an expansion/Panama Canal tour will be held for guests to view the expansion construction site and the current locks. An event at Miraflores Locks will be held August 15 at 7 a.m. to commemorate the opening of the Panama Canal, followed that night at 5:30 p.m.

Statoil, Repsol, ExxonMobil Win Colombian Offshore License
Statoil announced today that it has been awarded interest in the COL4 license offshore Colombia in the Caribbean Sea in the 2014 Colombia Licensing Round, along with Respol and ExxonMobil. Statoil said it will hold 33.33% in the license, while Repsol will be the operator of the license and will hold 33.34% and ExxonMobil Exploration Colombia will hold 33.33%. The award is subject to the final approval of the National Hydrocarbons Agency of Colombia (ANH).

VIDEO: HMS Queen Elizabeth Floats Out
A timelapse video of HMS Queen Elizabeth floating out of her dock for the first time is now available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0ZjQz9vEKw. The float out of the 65,000-metric-ton aircraft carrier took place last Thursday, July 17, at the drydock in Rosyth near Edinburgh. Teams will now continue to outfit the ship and steadily bring her systems to life in preparation for sea trials in 2016.

Norway’s Kleven announced it has signed a shipbuilding contract with Malaysian based joint venture company IES Pioneer Ltd.
