Algeria announces tender for 50,000 tonnes of soft milling wheat

Posted to Maritime Reporter on December 2, 2025

Traders in Europe said that the state grain agency of Algeria, OAIC, has launched an international tender for soft milling wheat. The wheat must be sourced from origins other than Algeria.

Algeria usually buys more than the nominal amount sought in its tenders.

The deadline to submit price offers for the tender is December 3. Offers are valid until December 4.

In 2026, the wheat will be shipped in two phases from the main supply areas including Europe: between February 1-15 and 16-28. The shipment date is one month earlier if the wheat comes from South America or Australia.

Algeria is an important customer of wheat from the European Union and France in particular, but Russians and other Black Sea exporters are expanding rapidly on the Algerian market. (Reporting and editing by Rashmi aich in Hamburg, Germany; Reporting by Michael Hogan from Hamburg)
