Algeria purchases milling wheat at tender, traders claim
?European Traders reported that Algeria's state grain agency OAIC bought a?milling?wheat in an international tender? which closed?? on Tuesday.
They said that the initial cost of a metric tonne, including freight and costs, was $257, $259, and $260.
Initially, the size of the purchase was not clear in terms of tonnage. Algerian purchases are of?optional origin, but traders anticipated that the Black Sea region would?provide a significant source?for a portion of the purchase.
Wheat was requested for shipment from three main supply regions, including Europe: April 16, May 1, and May 16-31. When sourced from South America, Australia or New Zealand, the shipment will be a month earlier.
The reports are based on?traders' assessments and more estimates of volumes and prices may be possible later. Algeria purchased around 600,000 tons of milling wheat at a price of $254 per ton c&f in its previous tender.
