Bunge explores alternative shipping routes in the Middle East Conflict

Posted to Maritime Reporter on March 5, 2026

A spokesperson for Bunge, the global grains 'trader', said that they are exploring alternative shipments routes to reduce disruptions due to conflict in the Middle East.

After the?U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, shipping through the Strait?of Hormuz has been disrupted,?rattled markets, and constrained trade through this narrow route connecting Gulf exporters to global buyers.

The spokesperson stated that "Bunge's teams closely monitor the situation" as there has been only a limited impact to our ocean-going vessels.

Nutrien, a Canadian agrichemical company, said on Wednesday that it was "closely engaged" with its customers as the 'conditions' in the Middle East region continue to change. (Reporting and editing by Shilpi Mahumdar in Bengaluru)
