Peter Burling, helmsman of the?New Zealand?Team in America's Cup, will be aiming to oust his former team as a?driver? for 'Italian' challengers Luna Rossa.

Burling won three America's Cups with New Zealand, but they parted ways last year when they couldn't agree on terms.

Luna Rossa has named Burling one of four potential drivers, alongside Italians Ruggero?Tita,?Marco Gradoni & Margherita Porro.

Luna Rossa posted a video in which the 35-year old said, "We are really lucky to have such a great mix of sailors, men and women."

"Everyone wants the best for themselves, and I believe that competition is healthy and can drive us forward."

Burling is a gold-medal winning Olympic sailing champion from 'New Zealand, and a name that has been synonymous with the sport for many years. He joined Luna rossa in June last year, but his role wasn't defined.

The 38th America's Cup, which will take place in July 2027 for the first time ever, will be hosted by Naples.
