Dmitriev, a Russian official, says that he has discussed the global energy crisis with U.S. counterparts
The Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev stated that he discussed the current energy crises with his U.S. counterparts on Thursday as part of a meeting of the U.S. and Russia working group on economics which took place in Florida.
Since the closure of the Strait o f?Hormuz on February 28, the supply of nearly 20 million barrels of oil per day (bpd), or about a fifth, of global production has been trapped in the Gulf.
Dmitriev posted a statement on his Telegram account that said, "Today, many nations, especially the United States are beginning to understand the 'key, systemic role Russian oil and gas plays in ensuring the stability of the global economic, as well as their inefficiency and destructive nature."
Dmitriev stated that, upon the instructions of?President Vladimir Putin?, he met with the heads the working group for?economic co-operation between Russia and the United States? in the United States.
Dmitriev stated that "we?discussed a number of?promising?projects which can help restore Russian-American relations as well as the current crisis in global energy markets."
Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy, said that both teams had discussed "a variety of topics" and they agreed to stay in contact.
