Document shows that Iraq asks oil customers to send loading plans for their tanks after the Hormuz exemption
A 'document' reviewed by? showed that Iraqi state oil -marketer SOMO had asked customers to submit their crude oil lifting schedules in a matter of 24 hours. Following media reports that Iran had exempted Iraq of any transit restrictions through the Strait of Hormuz,
In the document published on April 5, SOMO stated: "In view of the above and to ensure continuity and stability of crude oil export operation, we urge your esteemed Company?to submit their lifting schedules within 24 hrs to enable 'the timely processing of lifting programs, vessel nominations and contractual -volumes in full alignment with agreed terms and conditions."
The document stated that "all loading terminals including the Basrah Oil Terminal and its associated facilities remain fully operational and SOMO remains in a full state of readiness to execute any contractual lifting program without limitation."
SOMO couldn't be reached outside office hours for a comment.
The OPEC member will be able to increase production with a resumption of oil exports, as the output?declined to 800,000 barrels a day?last week.
Some market participants have said that it is still unclear if any shipowners would allow their tankers to enter the Gulf in order to transport oil, given the ongoing U.S./Israeli war against Iran.
