Downing Street reports that Starmer and Trump discussed opening the Strait of Hormuz.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with the?U.S. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, spoke with?Keir Starmer on Thursday about?the necessity of a plan that would restore shipping through Strait of Hormuz as quickly as possible. Downing Street announced a ceasefire with Iran.

Starmer discussed with Trump the UK’s efforts to bring partners together to agree on a "viable" plan to restore freedom of navigation in the waterway.

The statement stated that "they agreed that with the ceasefire now in place, and the agreement to open up the Strait we are at the next step of finding a resolution."

The leaders discussed a practical plan that would 'get shipping moving as quickly as possible,' Downing Street reported. Adding that Trump and Starmer would re-convene soon. Reporting by Mrinmay dey in Mexico City, Editing by Chris Reese
