Fincantieri, Italy, partners with Generative Bionics for a humanoid robot to weld.

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri announced a partnership on Wednesday with the 'deep-tech company, 'Generative Bionics' to develop a humanoid robot that will work alongside its workers in shipyards.

Fincantieri’s shipyard in Genoa, Italy, will begin testing the robot by 2026.

Fincantieri stated that the initiative is part of an industrial plan focusing on advanced robotics, "Physical AI", in order to deal with a growing complexity in production and a shortage of skilled workers.

Fincantieri's CEO Pierroberto Folgiero? said in a press release that "advanced robotics,?artificial intelligence and industrial processes" are a key lever for the future of shipbuilding and the competitiveness of Europe's?industrial system.
