French Navy chief held recent talks with foreign counterparts about Middle East
Admiral Nicolas Vaujour said that he has recently held talks with various naval counterparts, including those from Britain, Germany Italy, India, and Japan, about the current situation in Middle East.
He wrote in a letter to X on Friday that he had recently met with his 'foreign counterparts' to discuss our analyses and to coordinate our 'actions as a response to the prevailing situation in the Middle East.
Vaujour added, "We exchange views on maritime security and freedom of navigation issues as the sea is an important artery for global economic stability and regional stability."
The U.S. and Israeli war against Iran has 'hit the global financial markets, and shut down the Strait of Hormuz - a 'conduit that carries a fifth of all global oil shipments?and liquefied gas flows.
Vaujour's discussions follow a similar initiative - from France's Armed Forces Chief FabienMandon. He said he'd hold a "soon", videoconference with 'army chiefs' of countries 'willing to play a 'role' in restoring maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. (Reporting and editing by John Irish)
