Hormuz becomes a hub for oil tanker traffic
Ship tracking data shows that two crude 'tankers' with less than?2,000,000 barrels of oil sailed through the Strait of Hormuz?on Monday. This is a sign of increased traffic after Sunday’s lower flows due to concerns about passage -through the waterway.
Separately two supertankers that can 'carry up to 4 million barrels of crude oil' sailed through the Strait into the Gulf on Monday, with one vessel showing Basra, Iraq as its destination.
The number of sailings through Hormuz is still only a fraction of the daily average of 125 vessels that crossed before 'the Iran -war' began on 28 February. (Reporting and editing by Joe Bavier; Jonathan Saul)
