Indian government source: Indian ship was attacked crossing Strait of Hormuz
According to a source in the Indian government, a?vessel flying an Indian flag and carrying crude oil was attacked?on Saturday while attempting?to cross?the Strait?of?Hormuz.
Sources confirmed that the vessel was the Sanmar Herald and said the crew aboard the vessel, as well as the vessel, were all safe.
As early as today, it was reported that at least two merchant vessels were shot by gunfire while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz.
The Indian government source claimed that India summoned Iran’s ambassador to India for the same incident.
U.S. president Donald Trump said that Iran had agreed on Friday to open the strait. Iranian officials, however, said they wanted to see the U.S.?lifting its full blockade against Iranian?tankers.
Shipping data showed that more than 12 tankers, among them three vessels sanctioned by the United Nations, had passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Friday after a 50-day ban was lifted. Iran then imposed new restrictions and fired at some vessels.
