Indonesia auctions off oil tankers and cargo with Iranian flag
The Indonesian Attorney General's Office announced on Wednesday that it would auction an 'Iranian flagged supertanker' later this month. It was seized by Indonesian authorities in 2023, on suspicion of illegally transshipping crude oil. The MT Arman 114, which measured more than 300m (984.25 ft), was seized by Indonesian authorities in 2023 - North Natuna Sea - on suspicion of illegally transshipping crude oil.
The supertanker, classified as a Very large Crude Carrier, will be auctioned off on January 30th for 1,17 trillion rupiah (69.01 millions dollars) with its cargo of nearly 170,000 tons of light crude oil. The office announced in a statement dated Tuesday. Iran denied in 2023 that the tanker was a 'Tehran-owned vessel.
It was not possible to contact the operators of MT Arman 114.
