Jordan purchases 60,000 tons of feed Barley at tender, traders claim
European traders reported that Jordan's state grain purchaser purchased approximately 60,000 metric tonnes of animal feed barley in an international bid seeking up to 122,000 tons on Wednesday.
The traders reported that the barley had been purchased from the trading house Louis Dreyfus for an estimated $259,65 per ton (cost and freight included) with a shipment scheduled in the second half December.
According to traders, Bunge and Olam also participated in the tender and made offers of $263.50 per ton C&F and $262.74 respectively.
The reports reflect the opinions of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later.
Jordan is expected to issue a new tender for 120,00 tons of feed barley with a deadline on October 8. The traders said that the shipment would be in the second half November and the first half December.
