North Korea tests cruise missiles and anti-ship missiles on a naval destroyer
KCNA, the state-run media outlet, reported on Tuesday that North Korea had conducted a second test of'strategic cruise-missiles and antiwarship missiles' on 'Sunday. This was part of a slew of operational efficiencies tests of its destroyer Choe Hyon.
The report said that Kim Jong Un, along with senior officials of the defence and naval commands, observed the test.
KCNA reported that two strategic cruise missiles, and three anti warship missiles, were fired to test the integrated weapons command system of the warship, 'train crews on missile-launch procedures, and verify accuracy and anti jamming performance 'of upgraded navigation systems.
The anti-warship and cruise missiles were launched between 1,960 and 1,973 seconds, respectively. They hit their targets with ultra-precision accuracy.
KCNA reported that Kim was briefed on the same day about weapons plans for?two other destroyers currently under construction.
Kim stated that'strengthening the nuclear deterrent of the country remained a priority. He called for improved strategic and tactical strike capabilities and rapid response readiness. The report said. Pyongyang fired its first weapons on the 5,000 ton Choe Hyon class?warship?in April?2025. Kim personally oversaw the missile test last March. (Reporting and editing by Kyu-seok Shim)
