The?defence minister said that the Romanian navy had?detonated a mine which had drifted onto its 'Black Sea'shore on Wednesday.

The ministry stated that the mine is a Russian YaRM type, which was reported near the beach between Vama 'Veche and the 2 Mai seaside town. The ministry did not specify the age of mine.

Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey have formed a?task force? to defuse mines that are stray in the Black Sea. The Romanian navy reported that nine out of 156 mines discovered in the Black Sea and destroyed since the attack on Ukraine by Russia four years ago have been neutralized by Romanian soldiers.
