Russian gas tanker sinks after explosions in the vicinity of Libya, says maritime authority

"A distress signal was received on March 3, 2026 at 8:00 pm by the commercial tanker named Arctic Metagaz. The note said that information indicates the tanker suffered sudden explosions, followed by a massive fire.

The tanker was confirmed to be 'completely sunk' at the scene of the accident. The 'wreckage' is located in the maritime area between Libya (within Libyan search-and-rescue zone). ...",, the note said.
