Posted to Maritime Reporter on January 19, 2026

The Saudi Arabian General Food Security Authority, the state grain agency, bought 907,000 metric tonnes of wheat at an international auction on Monday.

The GFSA had issued a tender for up to 595,000 tonnes, which closed on Friday.

They said that the wheat purchased was hard wheat with a 12.5% protein content. The wheat was purchased for delivery between May and July, traders stated.

The total number of shipments was 15: five vessels were sent to Jeddah port, seven to Dammam, and three to Yanbu.

The reports?reflect the assessments of traders, and future estimates?of volumes and prices are possible. (Reporting and editing by Louise Heavens in Hamburg)
