South Korea bids to purchase 65,394 tonnes of rice, traders claim

South Korea's Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation, a state-owned corporation. European traders reported on Monday that the?international tender?was issued to purchase approximately 65,394 tons of rice.

The deadline to submit price offers for the tender is April 21.

The shipment was to be made in a series of consignments from June 1 through December 3. The tender is mainly looking for non-glutinous brown long grain and medium grain rice.

The total is 13,671 tonnes, of which 17,328 tonnes are sought from Australia, 22,222 tons from China, and the remaining from Thailand?and Vietnam.

The results of the tender may not be known until a few weeks after price submissions. Before making a final decision, the?corporation requires that rice samples be sent to Korea for analysis.
