South Korea's MFG purchased 65,000 tons of corn in a private deal, traders claim

Posted to Maritime Reporter on April 8, 2026

Major Feedmill Group, a South Korean company, purchased 65,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn in a private deal without announcing an international tender on Wednesday.

The corn was purchased at an estimated cost of $258.21 per ton, plus freight (c&f), plus a $1.25 surcharge for additional port unloading.

The alleged purchase was made from Bunge Trading House, with the arrival in South Korea around 30 July.

Shipping is from June 11 to July 10 if the product comes from the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast, as some traders anticipated.

After the announcement of a ceasefire, prices for?corn in Korea fell.

Further estimates of 'prices and volume' are still possible. Michael Hogan, reporting from Hamburg and editing by
