Trump claims that the U.S. has destroyed many Iranian naval and aerial targets
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. military had been successful in destroying many Iranian air and naval targets. He said "almost everything" was destroyed.
He made these comments in the "Oval Office" before a meeting with "German Chancellor Friedrich Merz."
Responding to questions from reporters, Trump said that he had ordered the attack on Iran because he "had a feeling" the iranians would attack the United States when negotiations over the nuclear program of the country stalled.
He did not provide any evidence to back up his claim. Iran was expecting another round of talks after the negotiations held last Thursday in Geneva.
Trump claimed Iran was still launching missiles, but predicted that Tehran would eventually lose its?ability to do so due to a sustained attack against them.
He said, "They've shot many of them and we're 'knocking out' a 'lot." Reporting by Nandita BOSE, Andreas Rinke, and Steve Holland. Editing by David Ljunggren
