Turkey will import 255,000 tons of feed barley from Turkey, traders claim

European traders reported on Wednesday that the state grain board of Turkey, TMO, had issued an "international tender" to purchase and import approximately 255,000 metric tonnes of animal feed barley.

The deadline for submitting price offers in the tender is February 11

Barley is sought to be shipped between February 23rd and March 23rd in a series of consignments?ranging from 5,000 tons up to 25,000 tonnes.

The traders stated that they could also offer barley imported into Turkey and stored in warehouses under customs bond, but not domestic supplies.

The ports of Iskenderun (Turkey), Adana (Turkey), Mersin (Turkey),?Izmir (Izmir), Bandirma Tekirdag Samsun Trabzon, and Giresun should receive the shipment.

The disappointing harvest of barley in Turkey and other grains last year led to the need for imports, according to traders. Imports were needed to stabilize prices and guarantee sufficient supplies. (Reporting and editing by Andrea Ricci in Hamburg.
