Turkey will import feed barley worth 210,000 metric tonnes, traders claim

Posted to Maritime Reporter on January 9, 2026

European traders reported on Friday that the state-owned?grain board TMO of Turkey has issued a?international tender for the?purchase and importation of about 210,000 tons animal feed barley.

The deadline to submit price offers in the tender is 15 January.

The?barley will be shipped between January 26 and February 24 as a series of consignments?of 5,000 to 25,000 tons.

The traders stated that only supplies imported into Turkey and stored at custom-bonded warehouses could be offered, but no domestic products.

The ports of Iskenderun (Turkey), Adana, Mersin (Turkey), Izmir, Samsun (Turkey), Trabzon, and Girisun should receive shipments.

In recent months, the TMO has held a number of tenders for grain and vegetable oil imports to boost local supplies.

The 'disappointing' harvest of barley, wheat and other grains in Turkey last year led to the need for imports. This was done to stabilize prices and guarantee sufficient supplies. (Reporting and editing by Louise Heavens in Hamburg)
