UK crime agency charges Sudanese man after four die in Channel boat crossing
The National Crime Agency of Britain announced a charge against a Sudanese 27-year old man for endangering life after four migrants died this week while trying to cross the Channel on a small vessel from France to Britain.
The NCA which investigates organised crimes has charged Alnour Mohammed?Ali who was arrested Friday with "endangering another?during a voyage by sea" from Britain.
The incident ?occurred on Thursday off the coast of Saint-Etienne-au-Mont, near Calais in northern ?France.
The NCA reported that the four victims, who were not identified, died as they attempted to board a water-taxi, which is increasingly used by smugglers to avoid police.
The incident caused 38 migrants to be returned to France, while 74 migrated to Britain.
The NCA said that Ali, who is alleged to have 'piloted' the boat, will appear before Folkestone Magistrates court on Saturday.
Illegal immigration has become a major issue for Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister and his predecessors at Downing Street due to the?number of people who cross the Channel in search of asylum?in Britain.
