Ukraine reveals'stolen grain' from Russia during a call with Israel

Posted to Maritime Reporter on April 15, 2026

Andrii Sybiha, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, held a phone call with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar in order to discuss the Russian vessel that he said was carrying grain'stolen' from Ukraine and docked at an Israeli port.

Kyiv believes that all the grain produced in four regions Russia claims as its own, since it invaded Ukraine in '2022, and Crimea annexed to Russia in 2014 has been stolen by Moscow.

Sybiha said in a late Tuesday post?on X that "I stressed the illegal export -of stolen Ukrainian agricultural goods is part of Russia’s broader war efforts." "Such illegal trade with stolen goods cannot be tolerated."

Although Russia calls these four areas "new territories", they are internationally recognized as Ukrainian.

Sybiha reported in March that Russia transported?more? than 2 million tons? of stolen Ukrainian grain across the Black Sea during last year?. In August, a Ukrainian official estimated that Russia has stolen 15 million tons of Ukrainian grains since the beginning of the war.

The Foreign Minister added that they also discussed security issues and the Middle East.

He said: "We reaffirmed our interest in advancing the bilateral agenda and maintaining an open dialogue, even on matters of security." (Reporting and editing by Daniel Flynn, Jan Harvey, Anna Pruchnicka)
