Union: Ukrainian export prices for rapeseed crop increase amid fears of lower output

Posted to Maritime Reporter on February 25, 2026

The UAC farmers' union said that the indicative export prices for Ukraine’s 2026 rapeseed crop?have increased to $530-$540 a tonne CPT July-August from $510-$520 reported a month earlier.

Ukraine, one of the largest European exporters and growers of rapeseed, harvested about 3.7 million tonnes in 2024. In 2025, the harvest dropped to 3.3 millions tons, mainly due to bad weather.

UAC, the country's largest farmer's union, stated in its weekly report, that Ukraine could harvest less 'rapeseed' this year due to unfavourable weather conditions.

Ukrainian rapeseed is traditionally based on winter rapeseed. It is sown during autumn and harvested the following spring.

UAC estimates that Ukraine has planted?approximately 1,1 million hectares?of winter rapeseed in preparation for harvest 2026. However, extreme frosts could damage as many as 300,000 acres of crops.

"This is quite a bit of rapeseed. The area could be reduced to less than one million hectares and the yield may not be very predictable." UAC stated that we will not be harvesting a lot of rapeseed in this season.

Weather forecasters in Ukraine said that the weather conditions for winter crops were satisfactory as of Tuesday, February 10.

The report noted that there was no evidence of plant damage or death, but added that samples to test the regrowth and regrowth rate of the winter crop will be taken between February 13-14.

Rapeseed is currently being sold at $560 to $585 per metric tonne CPT Black Sea.

APK-Inform said that it had revised Ukraine's 2026 Rapeseed Harvest Forecast?down to 3.7 million tons, from 3.9 million tons a month ago.

The consultancy expects rapeseed to be exported at 2.7 millions tons during the July-June 2026/27 season, compared with the previous forecast of almost 3,000,000 tons. (Reporting and editing by PhilippaFletcher; Pavel Polityuk)
