US agency to insure maritime losses up to $20 billion in Gulf

The President Donald Trump ordered on?Tuesday the DFC to provide financial and political guarantees for maritime trade within the Gulf, after the transit of oil and liquefied gas tankers?had halted in the Straight?of Hormuz between Iran and?Oman.?Normally 20% of the world's oil is moved daily through this waterway.

DFC stated that the?insurance would be done?on an ongoing basis, and initially focus on hull and machinery insurance and cargo insurance. (Reporting and editing by Louise Heavens, Susan Heavey and Timothy Gardner)
