Burger Boat’s Sycara IV Wins Award
Burger Boat Company’s Syara IV, a 2010 151.2 ft Fantail Motor Yacht, was awarded the Best Design Trophy for Custom Yachts Under 50m at the prestigious 2009 World Yachts Trophies organized by LuxMedia Group and held in conjunction with the Cannes International Yacht and Boat Show September 12, 2009. Sycara IV won the award thanks in part to her unique design, reflective of her owner’s desire to build a family yacht true to the Golden Age of yachting. Sycara IV recaptures the grace of a bygone era and represents Burger’s continued commitment to designing and building custom yachts to meet their owner’s specific requirements and desires. Gulf Craft to Invest $100m in Dubai Shipyard
Company plans to invest $100 million over the next five years in the development of a new shipyard in Dubai Maritime City to build a global luxury yachts manufacturing facility Dubai Maritime City (DMC), a maritime cluster in Dubai, today announced an agreement with Gulf Craft to invest in a free hold plot located within the marine district of DMC, on an area of approximately 900,000 square feet. World Record Attempt: Suhay Tries to Break Distance by Dinghy Mark
In 2014, Robert Suhay tackled the “longest single-handed distance sailed in a dinghy by a male – 283.5 nautical miles (326.24 miles)” into the face of Hurricane Arthur for a Guinness World Record. Next week, Suhay will attempt to break his own record in a 14-foot Laser dinghy unassisted from Beaufort, N.C. to Annapolis, Md., a distance of about 340 nautical miles that will take him around Cape Hatteras and across dangerous ocean shipping lanes.

Oyster Enters Superyacht Market
According to Yachting World, two British yachting companies have teamed up to create a new range of series built Superyachts. Double Queen's Award yacht builder, Oyster Marine, has commissioned Dubois Naval Architects to produce a Dubois Oyster 100 and a Dubois Oyster 125. DYT Makes Large Yacht Shipments
In late February, Dockwise Yacht Transport’s (DYT) 456 ft Super Servant 3 left Port Everglades for Toulon, unloading 18 yachts and loading one in St. Thomas, then moved on to Martinique where it loaded 18 more yachts, totaling 32 power and sailing yachts for a final cargo value of $140m. Port of Amsterdam officially joined the HISWA Holland Yachting Group as a partner on, presenting itself as a new partner to the members during the annual HISWA summer event. The event was held on the wharf of yacht manufacturer Royal van Lent (Feadship) on the Kaag waterway. DMA Approves Tests Providers for Yachtsmen
Currently, the Danish Maritime Authority is in the process of approving test providers and issuers of certificates for yachtsmen. The approval is made in accordance with new regulations that entered into force earlier this year. These provisions make it possible for organisations within the yachting area to offer tests for yachtsmen. In 2017, this is of relevance only within the field of powerboat licenses and certificates of proficiency.

An upcoming world speed record attempt by Nigel Hook and the crew of SilverHook will be a two-for-one as they set out to achieve the fastest crossing from the U.S. to Cuba, and then back. Captain Hook has chosen August 17 to try to set two speed records in what is considered the most technically-advanced offshore monohull race boat in the world.
