Thern Launches New Line of Products

Thern, Inc. is expanding their catalog with the introduction of the new Thern Silver Line of products. The Thern Silver Line is launching with the new imported stainless steel TSSBW Series hand winch. Available in three models offering lifting load capacities of 600, 900 and 1300 lbs, the new TSSBW Series hand winch is fabricated of 304 grade stainless steel and features solid steel machine cut gears, gear covers and automatic brakes. TSSBW Series hand winches are designed for light duty applications requiring corrosion resistance.  Designed for full integration with Thern’s davit crane line, Thern’s Silver Line of hand winches offer operators an economic option for lifting and pulling small to medium sized loads while ensuring product compatibility and increasing the range of crane package options available. New McAllister Tug Features JonRie Winch Set

JonRie Marine Winches supplied its fifth ship set of full bollard pull winches to New York’s McAllister Towing for installation on its new tug, Tate McAllister. The 92-foot x 32-foot Z-Drive tug was designed and built by Washburn & Doughty of East Boothbay, Maine. The 6,000-horsepower tug, with a bollard pull of 90 tons, is the latest addition to the McAllister fleet.       The JonRie Series 250 escort winch was designed to handle the full bollard pull of the vessel

JonRie Supplies Equipment for New Great Lakes ASD

JonRie InterTech was commissioned for the supply of deck equipment for the new ASD Aura from Great Lakes Shipyard, Cleveland, Ohio. The new Tug is a Jensen designed ASD 4650 HP complete with a JonRie Series 220 Double Drum hawser winch on the bow with a capacity of 150M of 60 mm line, a line pull of 15 Tons, a line speed of 30 M/m and a brake with capacity of 200 Tons. The winch features JonRies hands free foot control


Saab Develops Underwater Anti-IED Robot

JonRie Marine Winches has launched its new Container Master Series “220” double drum bow winch, currently installed on the tug Independent, a new ASD for Marine Towing of Tampa.   The new winch is designed for a larger capacity rope. This concept has been used on the Panama Canal for many years as a redundant line tethered to the ship also acts as an escort bridle, making the tug more stable in prop wash during long escorts.  


Rapp Hydema Completes FAT for ARRV Deck Machinery

Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of Rapp deck machinery for the Alaskan Regional Research Vessel (ARRV) were recently undertaken successfully in Seattle. Other than winches, the tests included the Load-Handing System (LHS), which was tested in a unique upside-down configuration.  A UNOLS delegation, along with representatives of Marinette Marine Shipyard and the U.S. Navy’s OpNav office, witnessed the tests.   The diverse machinery package was manufactured locally in

Rolls-Royce to Design, Equip HB Grandi's New Trawler
