IYC Names its Brokers of the Year

‘Torch of Passion’ Guides Clipper Race Fleet into Keppel Bay

A Singapore welcome greeted the international fleet of 10 in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race as they sailed into Marina at Keppel Bay over the weekend to rousing cheers from Singaporeans, families and residents of Keppel Bay. Dr Lee Boon Yang, Chairman of Keppel Corporation, ignited the ‘Torch of Passion', starting the welcome celebrations for the fleet which had just completed Race 7, a 4,600-mile race from Gold Coast, Australia, to Singapore.

Red Dragon II Production Begins

The 52m (170ft) sloop Red Dragon II commenced construction at Alloy Yachts Auckland New Zealand in March 2006. Contracted by an International Yachtsman, Red Dragon II is the fifth yacht over 50m built by Alloy Yachts. She has a beam of 10.2m (33.5ft), draws 4.9m (16.1ft) and a displacement of 354 tonnes.  Port of Amsterdam officially joined the HISWA Holland Yachting Group as a partner on, presenting itself as a new partner to the members during the annual HISWA summer event.    The event was held on the wharf of yacht manufacturer Royal van Lent (Feadship) on the Kaag waterway. Port of Amsterdam and the yacht manufacturer had crossed paths before, as Royal van Lent recently expanded its operations by building a brand-new wharf in the port area.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidential yacht, Potomac, is once again plying the waters of San Francisco Bay after undergoing a maintenance drydocking at Bay Ship and Yacht in Alameda, Calif.   Long known as the “Floating White House,” she served as the presidential yacht until his death in 1945. Race Boat to Attempt US-Cuba Speed Record

An upcoming world speed record attempt by Nigel Hook and the crew of SilverHook will be a two-for-one as they set out to achieve the fastest crossing from the U.S. to Cuba, and then back.   Captain Hook has chosen August 17 to try to set two speed records in what is considered the most technically-advanced offshore monohull race boat in the world. MAN Engines for the Latest Riviera Luxury Yacht

Riviera 68 Sports Motor Yacht to be powered by MAN V12 engines.   Australian yacht builder Riviera Yachts is equipping its new 68 and 72 Sports Motor Yacht models with V12 diesel engines from MAN Engines. Customers have the choice of the V12-1550 or V12-1800 models, as well as MAN Engines' most powerful marine engine available on the market at the moment: the V12-1900. The twin-engine systems provide 1,140 kW (1,550 hp), 1,324 kW (1,800 hp) or 1,397 kW (1,900 hp) twice-over.  

ABB to Power the ‘Anti-cruise Ship’

DMA Approves Tests Providers for Yachtsmen

 Currently, the Danish Maritime Authority is in the process of approving test providers and issuers of certificates for yachtsmen.  ​The approval is made in accordance with new regulations that entered into force earlier this year. These provisions make it possible for organisations within the yachting area to offer tests for yachtsmen. In 2017, this is of relevance only within the field of powerboat licenses and certificates of proficiency.
