El Paso Global LNG Signs MOU With EGAS

El Paso Global LNG, a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the Eqyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) to investigate opportunities for El Paso to invest in the natural gas sector in Egypt. The MOU will allow the parties to cooperate in the exploration, production, gathering, transportation, and processing of natural gas and the possible development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction plant in Egypt. The parties will begin various studies into Egypt's natural gas sector immediately.


Kongsberg Develops Simulator for LNG Plant

Kongsberg Maritime's D-SPICE simulation tool has been used to develop and implement a sophisticated Operator Training Simulator for the gas treatment and liquefaction plant at National Grid Transco's (NGT) Glenmavis storage and peak shaving LNG plant in Scotland. Delivered in February 2007, the D-SPICE based Operator Training Simulator features a dynamic simulation model that covers the Selexol gas pre-treatment plant as well as the liquefaction plant

Wison Offshore & Marine Announces Award for construction of World’s First Floating LNG Liquefaction Unit. Shanghai-based Wison Offshore & Marine Ltd., a subsidiary of the Wison Group, announced today the successful award of a contract by the Exmar group for engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of the world’s first Floating LNG Liquefaction, Regasification and Storage Unit (FLRSU)


MHI to Establish LNG Project Management Department

Effective June 1, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) will establish LNG Project Management Department, within the Environmental and Chemical Plant Project Management Division of the Company's Engineering Headquarters. The new department will be dedicated to market exploration of LNG (liquefied natural gas) related business opportunities. By establishing the new unit, MHI aims to expeditiously respond to the growing demand for LNG related facilities that is being fueled by rapid expansion


EXMAR Orders Second FLNG from Wison

EXMAR NV has placed an order for a second Floating LNG Liquefaction Unit (FLNG) at Wison Offshore & Marine. Under the agreement, Wison will be responsible for the turnkey engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of the FLNG, which will be a self-contained barge with a liquefaction capacity of 0.6 MTPA and 20,000 m³ of LNG storage. The FLNG will be constructed at Wison’s shipyard in Nantong, China


ACP Signs Pact with Lake Charles Port

Agreement meant to capitalize Canal expansion while attracting new LNG customers.   The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) signed a cooperation agreement with the Port of Lake Charles in Louisiana earlier this week, which aims to attract new customers from the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry; a strategy that builds upon the advantages that the expanded Canal will offer. Currently, LNG vessels cannot transit through the waterway due to their beam dimensions


Gazprom Aims to be Top Gas Marketer

Russian natural gas company OAO Gazprom has set its sights on becoming one of the top 15 natural gas marketers in the U.S., www.marketwatch.com reported. The company expects to handle volumes of around 1 billion to 3 billion cubic feet a day or more once Russian exports of liquefied natural gas, or LNG, start flowing around the end of the decade. The company will consider investing in regasification facilities, but so far has no concrete plans to do so


Exmar, Excelerate Alliance for FLSO Solution

Exmar announced the formation of an alliance to advance its efforts in the development of floating liquefaction solutions. Exmar has formalized a relationship with its long-time LNG partner, Excelerate, and with Black & Veatch, a provider of natural gas processing and liquefaction technology. “This partnership forms a basis for the development of the first floating liquefaction, storage and offloading solution in the world" said Nicolas Saverys

Lloyd's Register (LR) introduce FLNG platform classification Rules after work on Shell's 'Prelude' platform LR say theirs are the first comprehensive Rules for FLNG facilities to be based on a real-world project. At the World Gas Conference 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, LR launched its Rules for Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) Platforms, formulated through their extensive work with Shell on its Prelude FLNG project .  Upon completion, Prelude will be the largest manmade floating object

Cheniere Energy Partners' subsidiary Sabine Pass Liquefaction signs a LNG sale and purchase agreement with Total Gas & Power North America. Cheniere Partners owns 100 percent of the Sabine Pass LNG terminal located on the Sabine Pass Channel in western Cameron Parish, Louisiana.  The Sabine Pass LNG terminal has regasification and send-out capacity of 4.0 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) and storage capacity of 16.9 billion cubic feet equivalent (Bcfe).
