APL Offers New East Africa Service

APL launched a new East Africa Express (EAX) service. The weekly EAX service will connect the Indian subcontinent and Arabian Gulf to East Africa. Trade from the Far East bound for East Africa will depart from Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Nhava Sheva in India. The port at Nhava Sheva will also serve cargoes originating from the Indian subcontinent and Arabian Gulf, alongside ports in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

The shipping company SEACONNECT, located in Klaipeda, Lithuania, offers a new feeder service from Hamburg to St. Petersburg. ClassNK Issues Certifications for Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan

Tokyo - ClassNK announced today that it had issued certifications for Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plans (SEEMP) to Japanese ship owner Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK LINE) and Turkish ship management company Semih Sohtorik Management & Agency Inc. (SSMA). These two certifications are the first of their kind to be issued by ClassNK. New amendments to Annex VI of the Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) related to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions


Fund Targets Mols-Linien

 The Danish equity fund Polaris makes a tender offer on all shares of the ferry operator Mols-Linien, which sails on routes Odden-Ebeltoft and Odden-Aarhus.    Polaris offered to pay 34 Danish crowns a share, valuing the ferry operator at 482 million Danish crowns ($71.7 million).   The private equity group has entered an agreement with Clipper Group A/S to acquire their stake of 29.95% in Mols-Linien for an undisclosed price
