Ashtead Technology Appoints New Commercial Director

International subsea equipment solutions specialist Ashtead Technology has added to its management team with the appointment of Tim Sheehan as commercial director. The appointment, which is a new position, comes as part of the company’s strategy to expand its global service offering which includes rental equipment, calibration, repair and maintenance, offshore personnel and bespoke engineered solutions. With more than 30 years of subsea industry experience, Mr. Sheehan takes up his new role following two years as executive vice president commercial at Reef Subsea, having also previously held senior management positions with Technip, Bibby, Acergy and Rotech. www.ashtead-technology.com  

NORDEN Names New Head of Dry Cargo

Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S has hired Christian Vinther Christensen as new head of the Dry Cargo Department.   Christian Vinther Christensen takes up his new position January 1, 2017 and becomes part of Senior Management reporting to CEO Jan Rindbo.   He brings with him 16 years of experience from the dry cargo operator Western Bulk. FGH Tries To Shed Petrodrill Contracts

Friede Goldman Halter filed with the bankruptcy court a motion to reject the two contracts for the construction of the two Amethyst offshore drilling rigs for Petrodrill. The company, in a statement, said that these highly unprofitable contracts caused substantial losses to FGH, and led to the company's recent Chapter 11 filing. FGH has also taken further cost-cutting measures, announcing that all senior management members have taken substantial salary cuts, in come cases as high as 40%.

Kane Appointed Pres. of Rolls-Royce Marine Electrical Systems Division

Rick Kane has been appointed as President of Rolls-Royce's new Marine Electrical Systems business. Kane was formerly President and Chief Executive of Raymarine Ltd, created when he led the management buy-out of Raytheon's recreational marine electronics business.A graduate in business studies from Suffolk University, Boston, MA, Kane initially spent nine years as a Supply Corp officer with the United States Navy before commencing his industrial career as a consultant with KPMG

KOTC, GAC Fujairah in Husbandry Contract

 GAC Fujairah has been awarded a husbandry contract by the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) to provide ship supply services, spare parts handling and a range of other logistical services to its vessels arriving in Fujairah, Khor Fakkan and Singapore anchorage.   As part of global shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC Group, GAC Fujairah worked in close cooperation with the Middle East Regional Office in Dubai and GAC Singapore to secure the deal.  

Aumann Named CEO of Oman Drydock

Stephan Aumann has been appointed by ASYAD (formerly Oman Global Logistic Group) board of directors as the new CEO of the Oman Drydock Company S.A.O.C. in Duqm/Oman. He is a member of the senior management, responsible for all shipbuilding projects, and reports to CEO Jarmo Laakso.   Luukkonen was previously a member of the Meyer Werft management team in Turku, Finland. Now as director, he is responsible for the project management of MV WERFTEN’s newbuilding program.  

Shipping Beware Changing Risk Landscape -Moore Stephens

Effective management of risk within the industry has improved slightly over the past 12 months, according to the third annual Shipping Risk Survey from international accountant and shipping adviser Moore Stephens. But shipping still needs to up its game in terms of managing its exposure to risk, which is increasing and changing in nature, not least in terms of the threat posed by cyber security, Moore Stephens says.

 Family-owned Craig Group, of Aberdeen, has sold its core North Star Shipping business to international investors  Basalt Infrastructure Partners in a move described as “restructuring for a new era”.   "North Star Shipping has been acquired by Basalt Infrastructure Partners. The existing senior management team, staff and crew of North Star will remain with North Star, under the new owners," said a press release from the company.
