Manson Christens New Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge

Manson Construction Co. recently christened the newest edition to its dredging fleet, a trailing suction hopper dredge dubbed Bayport, at the company's yard on the Duwamish river in Seattle. Bayport is a larger sister ship to Manson's current self-propelled hopper dredge Newport, with an overall size of 303 x 54 x 26-ft. and 5,000 cu. yard capacity. Construction of Bayport was a fast track project for the company. The dump barge hull was reconstructed to become this self-propelled, self-contained hopper dredge, and design work began only in November 1998. The barge, which had been working on a USACE project in San Francisco, was brought to Manson's Seattle yard in February 1999, and since that time was completely transformed under the guidance of Manson's Dave Gertsch and Dave Nielsen. After the christening, final construction details will be completed and the new hopper dredge will go to work on Manson's joint venture contract with the USACE on the Humboldt Harbor Deepening Project.

Trailing Suction Hopper Delivered

New TSHD Launched for Van Oord

Van Oord’s first of two new midsize trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHD), Vox Amalia, has been launched at the LaNaval shipyard in Bilbao, Spain. DEME Names Second LNG-fueled Dredger

 The trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Scheldt River was officially named  at the DEME head office in Zwijndrecht, Belgium. SCHOTTEL Thrusters Propel New Australian Dredger

A newly built 60-meter trailing suction hopper dredger Tommy Norton started work to deliver safe and reliable ocean access for the commercial vessels, oil and gas suppliers and commercial fishing fleet that cross the entrance bar to the Gippsland Lakes area.   The dredger is the first built by Damen Shipyards Group for Australia, and features propulsion is provided by two SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers type SRP 330 fixed pitch.

Trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Magdalen was launched on March 31, 2017 at Eastern Shipbuilding Group’s (ESG) Allanton facility in Panama City, Fla.   The 356’ twin screw dredger is being constructed for the U.S.’s second largest dredging contractor, Weeks Marine Inc. Having already been earmarked for a project at the end of this year, the TSHD is expected to have a significant impact when it enters the U.S. dredging market.  

New Dredger Launched for Gippsland Ports

The Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) 650 ordered by Gippsland Ports of Victoria, Australia, in December 2015 has recently been launched at Damen Yichang Shipyard in China. The vessel, named Tommy Norton, is now alongside the yard’s new quay undergoing final commissioning, after which she will sail for Shanghai to undertake sea trials. Once those are completed she will sail for Australia on her own keel for dredging trials and delivery. The official handover will take place in August

Keppel to Build Additional Dredgers for Jan De Nul

Keppel Offshore & Marine's (Keppel O&M) wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd (Keppel Singmarine) has secured contracts from Codralux S.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jan De Nul Group, to build two Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHDs). The dredgers are valued at approximately $120 million, including owner-furnished equipment. Keppel Singmarine is currently building three dredgers for Jan De Nul Group, based on contracts that were secured in July 2016.

Royal IHC Launches TSHD for Adani

Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC informs it has launched Adani’s 8,000m3 IHC Beagle trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) – Shanti Sagar 18 – at a ceremony on July 7 at the builder’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands.   Shanti Sagar 18 will be mainly utilized for maintenance dredging. World Marine Wins Bid to Repair USACE Dredger
