February 26, 2001

AAPA is finalizing programs and securing industry experts for both the Port Administration Seminar and the Information Technology Seminar. These two important disciplines will be covered thoroughly as independent seminars, coming together for two sessions, one on eCommerce and another on Electronic Policy. These two groups will also come together for continental breakfasts, breaks and lunches. AAPA seminar host, the Mississippi State Port Authority at Gulfport, is planning an Evening Cruise & Reception Aboard "The Gulf Islander" for both groups on Thursday evening, April 5. The program for the Port Administration Seminar has been carefully assembled to cover the latest trends and challenges in port administration. Panel discussions will include training port professionals, the millennium workplace, employee recruitment and retention, managing conflict in the workplace and legal issues affecting port management. This unique program will appeal to executive port directors, port managers and administrators, human resources personnel and port service providers alike. AAPA's Information Technology Committee, has assembled a group of knowledgeable speakers to address issues important to maritime-based information technology professionals during the Information Technology Seminar. Panel discussion topics will include EDI, a review of wireless technology, initiatives in container handling and a federal technology update.
