Carnival Cruise Lines is to return to Europe next year with its biggest ship ever, the 3,936-passenger Carnival Vista.

The Doral-based cruise line revealed details about the new 133,500-ton vessel. The ship, which starts sailing in May of 2016, will include the first IMAX Theatre at sea, an onboard brewery, a suspended open-air cycling ride called SkyRide and a family-focused hangout area. Indoor and outside seating will be available at some restaurants, a new feature for the line.

For the first time in three years, Carnival will have a ship stationed in Europe when Vista launches in Italy. It will also have a 12-day voyage out of Barcelona, which will be aimed specifically at the UK market.

Ports of call will include Athens, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Izmir, Corfu, Livorno (Italy), Marseilles, Messina (Sicily), Naples, Rome, Trieste and Valletta. After spending the summer in 2016, Vista will then sail a 13-day voyage to New York.

Mark Tamis, senior vice president of guest operations, said: “I really feel and we do [at Carnival] that this is the greatest ship to date and certainly the best ship to come from Carnival Cruise Line. This is about building on past success. This is built of the success of Carnival Breeze and what is rolling out across the whole Carnival fleet. We set out to make this our most innovative ship to date. This is about creating connects and a connection to the sea. This ship, like no other ship, brings that all together. “
