UK Road Haulage Market Offers Challenges
Hapag-Lloyd informs that the current situation of the UK Road Haulage market continues to face ongoing challenges as a result of increased cargo volumes through all UK ports and a general shortage of both vehicle, rail and driver availability.
The reliability and punctuality of UK container loadings and deliveries has been affected by these issues and is likely to continue to be affected in the coming months whilst these constraints in the market remain.
Please be advised, that as a result of these exceptional circumstances, we must advise as follows in relation to all export collections and import deliveries until further notice:
Export bookings will continue to be accepted where necessary for loading in the morning, however to assist with transport planning and to spread the resource better throughout the day we may need to consider converting an export loading request from the morning to the afternoon. Your local Customer Service booking team will discuss this with you at time of booking acceptance.
All export bookings and import deliveries are accepted on the basis that Hapag-Lloyd reserves the right to arrive up to 90 minutes beyond the booked time. Any container arriving within this 90 minute period must be loaded or unloaded with no consideration of extended free time or additional costs. Wasted journey costs will apply for any container arriving within this 90 minute period which is rejected for loading or unloading. Container detention free time for loading or unloading will commence from time of container arrival.
We would ask that in conjunction with the above any enquiries in relation to late transport are only instigated after the period of 90 minutes beyond the booked time has expired.
The above measures are as a result of the ongoing challenges in the UK haulage market, however are taken with the aim of improving the reliability of the transport service we offer to you, and we look forward to your support during these challenging conditions.
