Maersk Line’s Chinese New Year 2015

Eastbound Blank Sailings:  The 4713 Chinese New Year (CNY) begins on February 19th, 2015, and will run for 15 days as the people around the world reunite to celebrate the holiday.

Maersk Line has advised customers of nine blanked sailings over the CNY holiday period between Asia and Europe in its 2M vessel sharing alliance with MSC.

"Manufacturing plants typically shut down during this time, with many workers in the world's supply chain taking this time off to celebrate the festivities.  With the expected decrease in export volumes during the Chinese New year and the volume spike after the holiday." says Maersk.

Maersk Line always strives to minimize impact to our clients and manage the irregular exports at this time of the year.

The changes are detailed in a customer advisory, and next week will see another five voyages skipped with ‘contingency’ arrangements made to cover cargo already booked, although some North European ports will again be served on an inducement basis.
