Deviation Of MSC Services in Freeport Following Hurricane Matthew

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

October 12, 2016

Following the severity of Hurricane Matthew last week, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Freeport terminal operator in the Bahamas has temporarily halted operations, in order to repair cranes and ensure full safety and security within container yards.

"To enable us to maintain schedules during this period and keep your cargo moving, we will deviate some of our Latin America services to Caucedo and Kingston," said a notification from MSC.

"Please be assured that our service provision to you is of the highest priority, and we will be seeking to find the best possible routes for containers that are currently enroute, or those awaiting to be transshipped in these Caribbean ports. We apologize for any inconvenience or delays which may arise during this period of recovery from Hurricane Matthew," it said.

MSC hopes to resume its full activities in Freeport as soon as possible.
