OTC 2001: Drilling Markets Poised for Flood of Business

Beginning on April 30, more than 43,000 people will begin converging on the city of Houston for four days at the most important offshore event of the year the 33rd Offshore Technology Conference (OTC). The theme of the event, “One World, One Event,” summarizes the trans-national nature of this offshore conference.

“OTC 2001 is the one place where we, as oil and gas industry professionals, can find the answers to our questions, through technical sessions and by exploring the exhibit floor,” said Wolfgang Schollnberger, OTC 2001 Chairman.

OTC 2001 promises to deliver four information-filled days of the latest innovation in the global offshore industry. The more than 375,000 net sq. ft. of exhibit space will tout state-of-the-art technology available to the industry. Attendees will not only be able to view and demonstrate the technology displayed, but can also purchase products while visiting OTC. Running concurrently with the exhibition are technical sessions that detail new technology and practices available to engineers in the offshore field.

Attendees can expect more than 49 technical sessions that include 331 technical papers. Other presentations include eight Topical Luncheons and two General Sessions-”Commercialization of the Ultradeep: What will it take?” and “eBusiness Impact on the Petroleum Industry: Evolution or Revolution?” featuring some of the most notable names in the industry. New to OTC 2001 are three Industry Breakfasts scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Tuesday, attendees will gather in the ballroom for the annual OTC Awards Luncheon honoring Howard Shatto Jr. and the Roncador Field, Petrobras. Dr. Rilwanu Lukman, Advisor on Petroleum and Energy to the Nigerian President and former OPEC Secretary General, will deliver the keynote address.
