SIA to Honor Honeywell's Gordon Hope
The Security Industry Association (SIA) says it has chosen Gordon Hope, general manager of Honeywell's AlarmNet communications network, as the 2014 recipient of the George R. Lippert Memorial Award.
Hope, who celebrates 25 years with Honeywell this year, joined the company in 1989 when it was Ademco. He began in marketing, with responsibilities including the control panel family. Over time, he added responsibilities, ultimately becoming director of marketing and then vice president of marketing in 2006. As he rose through the ranks of Honeywell, he also served as SIA Chairman from 2009-2011.
“With so many deserving peers nominated for the Lippert Award this year, I am particularly honored to receive it,” Hope said. “As this is a key year of innovation for the security industry, I like to think this award highlights all of the good work being done by everyone in the industry to provide greater value for our clients. I thank my colleagues for this award and their own dedication to the industry.”
“Gordon Hope is one of the most recognized experts within our industry and someone who led SIA’s transformation into a more member-centric organization. A strong proponent of collaboration among industry associations, SIA would not be the organization it is today without Hope’s extraordinary insights and guidance. The entire security industry owes him a tremendous debt of gratitude,” SIA CEO Don Erickson said.
Currently, Hope manages the AlarmNet Communications business within Honeywell, which consists of the communications network supporting cellular wireless alarms, Internet communications and recently the lifestyle-enhanced suite of services dubbed Total Connect (which includes IP Video).
SIA adds that it will present Hope with the 2014 Lippert Award during the SIA Honors Night gala at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York, N.Y., on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014.
