The new Intellian v100GX 3-Axis Ku-Band VSAT communications antenna will be unveiled at Norshipping 2013.

The technically advanced antenna is fully prepared for the upcoming Global Xpress (GX) Ka-band broadband service from Inmarsat, and can be upgraded to the service with minimal technical intervention. The 1m v100GX incorporates a superb dual-band, carbon fiber reflector and tuned radome for consistent service, whether operating on the existing Ku- band, or converting to Ka- band when available next year.

The high-gain, precision built carbon fiber reflector is exceptional in its quality of manufacture and is designed to provide optimum performance on either band. When converting the system from Ku-band the antenna reflector does not need to be changed as the RF section is mounted on a single modular chassis enabling quick conversion to Ka-band operation without any system re-balancing.

The v100GX has been designed from the ground up to provide performance for both current Ku-band services as well as Inmarsat’s upcoming Global Xpress Service. The plug-and-play GX Conversion Kit (comprising GX BUC/LNB assembly, GX Feed Assembly and GX ACU incorporating the modem) is quick and easy to use and does not require a factory trained technician to mount. The antenna’s functionality can be easily transformed into the GX high-throughput broadband global service when Inmarsat’s I-5 Ka-band satellites are launched and operational in 2014.

Intellian’s new generation gyro-free satellite search function enables the v100GX to acquire and lock onto the satellite without requiring separate input from the ship’s gyro-compass. The 3-Axis stabilized pedestal assembly offers unlimited azimuth, enhanced elevation range and Cross-level to ensure service quality even at high latitudes and extreme operating conditions.

The new Intellian radome supports a low elevation angle (-20°) to provide reliable connection at extremely high latitude without any loss of performance.

The v100GX is a true global, future-proof platform. As standard, it is equipped with the patent-pending Intellian Ku-band Global PLL LNB, which is capable of receiving all global satellite signals by using programmable L.O. (Local Oscillator) frequencies. Additionally, the v100GX comes with co-pol and cross-pol functionality as standard. With its unique capability of remotely setting frequencies within the PLL LNB, and the ability to use any polarization, Intellian’s v100GX is the only system that is fully ready for the future of global VSAT Service.

The antenna can be monitored and controlled remotely using the new Aptus PC software, maximizing operational efficiency for service providers, operators and end users.

All Intellian antenna systems are designed, manufactured and tested to withstand the company’s industry-leading standards for vibration and extreme shock in all sea states and weather conditions. The v100GX VSAT antenna system meets DNV Standard No.2.4, Class C and MIL-STD-167-1A specifications. All Intellian VSAT antenna warranties are now increased to an industry-leading three years for parts and one year for labor.
