Rig upgrade and repair specialist Semco Maritime opens new Houston office on January 23, offering services for rig customers in Canada, Gulf of Mexico and Brazil.

Project management and offshore engineering company Semco Maritime is now opening a new, larger office in Houston, where the Danish company has been present for several years with a sales office.

According to the company’s vice president Tom Dalton, “Oil prices may fluctuate, but rig customers’ need of service and upgrades for their drilling fleet remains. Over the last few years we have built a solid customer base out of Houston, and we have substantial orders in the pipeline.”

Semco Martime said it has recently expanded its rig facility upgrade capabilities significantly. In the course of the last year, the company has established a new rig upgrade facility at Invergordon, Scotland and entered into a strategic partnership with PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard, providing rig services in Southeast Asia.

Following the expansion, Semco Maritime will provide upgrades, maintenance and SPS services, both offshore and during yard stays in the Gulf of Mexico. The company also employs specialists dedicated to working with clients on Front End Planning of major out of service projects. They will continue to supply and service Semco Safety Systems such as fire and gas detection; firefighting; PA/GA (Public Address & General Alarm) and telecom, and EKD (Early Kick Detection) systems.

The staff at the new Houston office on the secnd floor of the brand new Briarpark office also supports other divisions of the Semco Maritime Group, and the worldwide Asset Management and Front End Planning Group which is also based out of Houston.
