ACMA President Scott McClure Elected a Fellow of SNAME

SNAME President Peter Noble presents ACMA President Scott McClure with his SNAME Fellow’s Certificate

Alan C. McClure Associates (ACMA), a naval architecture and engineering firm, announced that ACMA President Scott McClure was presented with his Certificate as a Fellow by the council of SNAME (Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers) during a function held in connection with the 2013 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas. Noble went on to note that Scott McClure has been a respected member of this community for many years, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Alan C. McClure, who was elected a Fellow of SNAME in 1987.

104,800 Attendees at OTC 2013

Experts from the offshore energy industry around the world came together May 6-9 for the 2013 Offshore Technology Conference at Reliant Park in Houston. Attendance at the conference reached a 30-year high of 104,800, the second highest in show history and up 17% from last year. Attendance surpassed the 2012 total of 89,400 and the sold-out exhibition was the largest in show history at 652,185 ft², up from 641,350 ft² in 2012. The event had 2,728 companies representing 40 countries, including 244 new exhibitors in 2013. International companies made up 39% of exhibitors.

GE Spotlights Hi-tech Portfolio at OTC 2013

GE continues to expand its technology portfolio to address the challenges of offshore drilling & production and the rigors of deepwater drilling. Several GE business units showcased their latest products and services for the offshore sector in at the 2013 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), which was expected to draw nearly 90,000 attendees. “With one of the industry’s most comprehensive portfolios of advanced technology solutions and services, GE Oil & Gas is helping to solve complex challenges all around the world,” said Dan Heintzelman, president and CEO of GE Oil & Gas. At the conference, GE Oil & Gas introduced the next-generation SeaONYX™ BOP surface control system and operator interface.

GE O&G Wins Two Technology Awards at OTC

GE Oil & Gas has received two Spotlight on New Technology awards from the 2013 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) for two new products that address the challenges of deepwater drilling. The awards showcase the latest and most advanced hardware and software technologies that are leading the offshore exploration and drilling industry into the future. RamTel Plus System and ROV Subsea Display Panel. Blowout preventers (BOP) are critical components to drilling operation safety and are used on all wells, both on and offshore. GE’s RamTel Plus System and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Display provide the industry with real-time, electronic measurements of the BOP’s ram position and the pressure required to actuate the blades and/or sealing elements.
